Enterprise Systems and its Benefits

Self-organizing enterprises are often more flexibleflexible and agileagile than if they were organized from above (Dyer and Ericksen 2009; Stacey 2006). The concept of enterprise was instrumental in the great expansion of world trade in the 17th century (see note 1) and again during the Industrial Revolution of the 18th and 19th centuries. The world may be at the cusp of another global revolution enabled by the information age and the technologies and culturescultures of the Internet (see note 2).

With access to these new technologies, organizations can quickly improve their business best practices as the ERP software evolves. They can automate processes that used to require heavy manual intervention, such as reconciling financial accounts. In addition, users gain a comprehensive, real-time understanding of enterprise business activities not only in the front office, but also in warehouses, on factory floors, and everywhere else across the enterprise.

The primary purpose of an enterprise is to create value for society, other stakeholders, and for the organizations that participate in that enterprise. This is illustrated in Figure 1 that shows all the key elements that contribute to this value creation process. First, there is an ever-increasing demand for storage due to the Internet, document management and data warehousing as well as increasing daily transaction volume in growing companies. Secondly, finding the time window in a 7×24 operation to copy huge databases for backup, archiving and disaster recovery has become more difficult. Thanks to strategic email planning, they reach out to leads, communicate with customers and promote products. It helps managers better understand how efficient their work is, and adjust it accordingly. In some domains a team can be called a program (e.g., a customer support team is their customer relationship “program”).

Modern ERP systems are open and flexible – and can easily integrate with a wide range of software products using connectors or customized adaptors, such as application programming interfaces (APIs). Other methods for ERP integration include ESB (enterprise service bus) and iPaaS (integration platform-as-a-service). IPaaS, which offers a cloud-based approach, is a very popular option for modern businesses. IPaaS platforms can rapidly sync on-premise or cloud-based ERP with SaaS applications from the same vendor or third-parties.

And banks and shareholders require accurate financial records, so they count on reliable data and analysis made possible by the ERP system.

Benefits of ERP

In management theory, organisations that cannot adapt to changes in the business environment are argued to be less competitive than their adaptable counterparts. An organisation’s adaptability is influenced by the adaptability of its ES. An adaptable ES should allow the incorporation of changes that align with evolving business goals and unforeseen marketplace disruptions. In this work, we present an empirical study exploring current views on ES adaptability, which supports the hypothesis that ES adaptability is viewed as critical.

The executive sponsor should also be advised by an organizational change management executive, as ERP implementations result in new business processes, roles, user interfaces, and job responsibilities. Reporting to the program’s executive team should be a business project manager and an IT project manager. If the enterprise has engaged an ERP integration firm, its project managers should be part of the core program management team. Enterprise resource planning (ERP) manages and integrates business processes through a single system. With a better line of sight, companies can better plan and allocate resources.

The ultimate goal of a Programme is to realise outcomes and benefits of strategic relevance. At the other extreme, in a functional organization, the projects delegate almost all their work to functional groups. Each type of enterprise software solution focuses on specific goals and offers different functionalities. When deciding on which type of information system to choose, make sure it complies with strategic planning and major goals of your business. Business intelligence apps are aimed at data analysis and the provision of accurate information for effective decision-making. This practice helps companies reduce expenses, learn what works best, and reveal the actions that should be replaced or eliminated.
